A Weaver and A Poet: A Conversation About an Artist’s Tools
Join us at City Lights Bookstore on Saturday, June 24th, at 3 p.m. Weaver Tommye McClure Scanlin and poet Dana Wildsmith will discuss using an artist’s tools for craft.
Tommye McClure Scanlin is Professor Emerita, University of North Georgia, Dahlonega. She is a tapestry artist, weaver, teacher, and author who has written about her creative process in The Nature of Things: Essays of a Tapestry Weaver. Tommye uses the tools of her trade—yarn, loom, and bobbins—as she weaves the tapestry of her life
Dana Wildsmith teaches English Literacy at Lanier Technical College. She is a poet, novelist, and essayist whose new collection of poems, With Access to Tools, has at its center the use of tools—traditional, cyber and cerebral—to work toward whatever balance may be possible in our lives.
