Poetry Reading with William Woolfitt, Maggie Rue Hess, and Anna Laura Reeve

William Woolfitt, Maggie Rue Hess, and Anna Laura Reeve visit City Lights Bookstore for a poetry reading on Saturday, July 6th at 3:00pm. William will read from his new collection, The Night the Rain Had Nowhere to Go, Maggie from her latest book, The Bones That Map Us, and Anna from her debut collection, Reaching the Shore of the Sea of Fertility.

William Woolfitt is the author of four poetry collections, two story collections, and an essay collection. Ring of Earth (stories) was published by Madville Publishing in 2023; The Night the Rain Had Nowhere to Go (poems) is forthcoming from Belle Point Press; Eyes Moving Through the Dark (essays) is forthcoming from Orison Book. His fiction chapbook The Boy with Fire in His Mouth (2014) won the Epiphany Editions contest judged by Darin Strauss.William founded and edits Speaking of Marvels, a gathering of interviews with the authors of chapbooks, novellas, and books of assorted lengths.

Maggie Rue Hess (she/her) is a PhD student living in Knoxville, Tennessee, with her partner and their two crusty white dogs. Her work has appeared in Rattle, Minnesota Review, Connecticut River Review, and other publications; The Bones That Map Us is her debut chapbook. She serves as a poetry reader and Managing Editor for Online Content for Grist: A Journal of the Literary Arts. Maggie gets her stubbornness from both sides of her family and shares baked goods to show love; she has a surprising competitive side and her mom's crooked front teeth.

Anna Laura Reeve is a poet born and raised in East Tennessee. Winner of the 2022 Adrienne Rich Award, her work has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize and has appeared in Beloit Poetry Journal, Terrain.org, ROOM, Still, and others. She has an MA in Literature & Creative Writing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
