Peggy Hammond & Kenneth Chamlee Poetry Reading
Poets Peggy Hammond and Kenneth Chamlee will visit City Lights Bookstore on Saturday, June 17th, at 3 p.m. to share their work.
Peggy Hammond earned her MA in English Literature from NCSU and taught various
college English courses for many years. Her book The Fifth House Tilts earned a nomination for the Eric Hoffer Poetry Award. She is a Dramatists Guild of America member, and OdysseyStage Theatre produced her play A Little Bit of Destiny in Durham, NC.
Kenneth Chamlee is the author of If Not These Things and The Best Material for the Artist in the World, a poetic biography of 19th-century American landscape painter Albert Bierstadt (Stephen F. Austin University Press, 2023). His poems have appeared in The North Carolina Literary Review, Cold Mountain Review, among other places. He is Professor Emeritus of English at Brevard College in North Carolina and holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
