Marly Youmans & Sally Thomas
Join us for a joint presentation at City Lights Bookstore on Saturday, March 18th, at 3 p.m. Marly Youmans, and Sally Thomas will read selections from their respective works.
Former Cullowhee resident Marly Youmans makes poems, stories, and novels, especially when it snows, and sometimes they win awards—the Michael Shaara, the Ferrol Sams, a Silver ForeWord BOTYA, and others. Marly’s books include a recent novel, Charis in the World of Wonders; a recent collection of poems, The Book of the Red King; and a prior book-length poem, Thaliad. Her new poetry collection, Seren of the Wildwood, is her sixteenth book.
Sally Thomas is a poet and fiction writer. She will present her debut novel, Works of Mercy. Poet Paul Pastor said of Sally’s novel, "In Works of Mercy, we have been given a book that believes on every page, but never once preaches. Large in spiritual vision, deep and assured in literary execution, Thomas’s slow-burning debut deserves to be set next to fiction by Cather and Berry. This is a rare and precious treasure from a rare and precious talent."
Sally Thomas has also written two poetry chapbooks and a full-length poetry collection. She is the Associate Poetry Editor of The New York Sun.
To reserve copies of Seren of the Wildwood and Works of Mercy, please call City Lights Bookstore at 828-586-9499.
