Jim Buchanan Drive-by Book Signing
Jim Buchanan will appear at an outdoor signing at City Lights Bookstore, 3 East Jackson Street, for his newly-released book, “Historic Tales of Sylva and Jackson County’’ on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 5 p.m.
The Jackson native, Sylva-Webster and Western Carolina University graduate has been a longtime mountain journalist, working from Cashiers to Asheville to his current job as Special Projects editor for the Sylva Herald. He is a board member of the Western North Carolina Historical Association and has won numerous awards for columns and editorials from the North Carolina Press Association.
The book includes tales from logging camps, fields, gardens, and lonesome game trails and stories of challenges faced with the unique sense of mountain humor.
“Historic Tales of Sylva and Jackson County,’’ Buchanan explains, “is a collection of humorous tales reflecting mountain character and mountain characters. The book is more humor than history, but the history kind of rubs off along the way.
Attendees are asked to observe pandemic protocols.
