Coffee with the Poet Featuring Tina Barr

The Coffee with the Poet series continues on Thursday, October 15th at 10:30 a.m. at City Lights Bookstore. The October gathering will feature Tina Barr as she presents her second collection of poetry, Kaleidoscope. Former poet laureate, Joseph Bathanti has said, “This is a poet writing at the height of her powers.” Barr’s Fellowships include the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the MacDowell Colony and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She lives in Black Mountain, North Carolina with her husband.

Ron Rash Returns with His New Novel

City Lights Bookstore and The Jackson County Public Library are cosponsoring an event with Ron Rash on Friday, October 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the JCPL. Ron will read from his new novel, Above the Waterfall.  Publisher’s Weekly said of the novel, “There’s no denying Rash’s grasp of the North Carolina landscape and its reflection in the oft-tortured souls of its denizens, making this novel one of his most successful ventures into poetic humanism.”

Marly Youmans Returns with a New Novel

Kelly S. Jones to Present Her Book on Akashic Records

Kelly Jones will visit City Lights Bookstore on Saturday October 3rd at 3 p.m. to present her book Akashic Records Soul Dialogues. These dialogues occurred over the period of a year between Kelly and Doug and groups of 20-70 people who agreed to have their Records opened by these Masters. The questions ranged everywhere, from the truth of the economy to the nature of relationships ending and beginning, from the changes to the earth to ways to process the large and small challenges individuals and humanity are facing. Kelly is also a speaker, teacher and through many years of training with Chinese Masters, Kelly learned to "divine the earth" with a special focus on the Flying Stars aspect of Compass School Feng Shui. This experience led her to an encounter with and entrance into the Halls of the Akashic Records where she learned to unearth the divine. Mary Joyce Returns with a New Book

Sylva author, Mary Joyce will return to City Lights Bookstore on Saturday, September 12th at 3 p.m. to present her latest book. Underground Military Bases Hidden in North Carolina Mountains compiles information gathered by Joyce over several years about secret military facilities in North Carolina. The information about the secret bases is mostly from those with military, law enforcement and high security backgrounds plus citizens who have stumbled upon evidence.
