African Americans of Jackson County: From Slavery to Integration, a Pictorial History (Paperback)
With research spanning more than hundred years from 1865 to 1967, this book is the first ever written record of the African Americans in Jackson County, NC. Victoria has completed a text to accompany the photographs gathered from her research. The photographs shared with you here were not taken by Victoria, but by amateur African Americans and/or white professional photographers. She chose these pictures to present the history of black Jackson County through the years of segregation.
