Admit One (ticket for Gary Carden event)
On June 6. 1874, a caravan of educators who were visiting all the schools in western North Carolina were astonished to find that their destination, the small village of Webster was packed with people. Over 3,000 visitors lined the streets and gathered on the hillside before the courthouse. They were there to witness the hanging of Bayless Henderson who had waylaid and murdered one of the region's most prominent citizens, Nimrod Jarrett some nine months prior to this date.
On March 2 at 3 a.m., the Liars Bench will present the story of Bayless' fate and discuss the life of Nimrod Jarrett. William Ritter will lend his talents for writing murder ballads and Gary Carden will present a history of Jackson County's last (and only) hanging. Please join us at City Lights for a program that will be both entertaining and enlightening. Tickets are $10.00.
