A Tribute to UNC Athletes and Their Pro Careers

Tim Jackson Gone Pro Asheville writer Tim Jackson will visit City Lights Bookstore on Saturday, April 26th at 3 p.m. to present his book, Gone Pro: North Carolina. This new book profiles athletes from the University of North Carolina who excelled while at the school, then continued on to have successful professional careers. Part history, part fact-guide, and all tribute to UNC's athletic programs. Combining a trivia-buff's eye for detail with a journalist's knack for storytelling, Gone Pro: North Carolina follows sports superstars like Vince Carter, Mia Hamm, Michael Jordan, and Lawrence Taylor beyond their days in Carolina blue. Jackson also looks at lesser-known or bygone athletes, like Asheville’s own Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice, whose legacy still permeates Chapel Hill, but has faded nationally over the last half-century.
