Stephanie Powell Watts Presents Her Debut Short Story Collection

Stephanie Powell Watts will read from her new collection of short stories, We Are Taking Only What We Need on Thursday, August 2nd at 6:30 p.m at City Lights Bookstore. Most of the stories in this collection are set in North Carolina and blend humor and gravity. The book was named a finalist for the Pen-Faulkner Award. The story, “Unassigned Territory” received the Pushcart Prize and a citation from Best American Short Stories. Author of the Pulitzer-Prize novel Known World, Edward P.
